It was our pleasure to catch up with Luzi Matzig, founder and CEO of VIP Jets, a private jet charter and air ambulance service in Thailand and the ASEAN market.
Can you give us an overview of your background and how you started VIP Jets?
I started VIP Jets back in 2008 by purchasing a new Cessna Citation Mustang C510 and earning my jet type rating at the age of 60.
What sets your private jet charter service apart from competitors?
VIP Jets are a small, family-run company, paying great attention to customer service and aircraft maintenance with a dedicated and well trained team of professionals..
What are some of the challenges you face in the private jet charter industry, and how do you overcome them?
Flying is the easy part of our business whereas the trend for more and more administration due to increased aviation rules and regulations slows down the growth of private jet operations.
Can you share any memorable or unique experiences your company has had while serving clients?
We often get requests by animal lovers who want to take their pets along. We are presently working on a private jet flight with one cat lover plus ten pussies!
Can you discuss any expansion plans or new initiatives your company is working on?
We plan to acquire a used Citation XLS later on this year to expand our Medevac missions in Asia.
What role do you see technology playing in the future of private jet charter services?
I see a great future in hybrid eVTOLs entering the market in the next 5 years. VIP Jets plan to be one of the launch operators serving the EEC (Eastern Economic Corridor) in Thailand.
